About National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)
The NHRC of India is a statutory public body constituted under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, tasked with the protection and promotion of rights relating to life, liberty, equality, and dignity as guaranteed by the Constitution and enforceable in courts.

About the Opportunity
NHRC will conduct a four-week Winter Internship Programme (WIP) from 15 December 2025 (Monday) to 9 January 2026 (Friday) at its Delhi office. The programme aims to enhance human rights literacy and practical awareness among students through lectures, field visits, research projects, book reviews, and interactive sessions.

Vacancies

  • Maximum intake: 80 interns
  • Additional 20 students from Delhi-NCR region may be waitlisted

Eligibility

  • Students who have completed 1st year and are pursuing 2nd or 3rd year of LLB (3 years)
  • Students who have completed 3 years or Semester VI of 5-year integrated BA LLB/BBA LLB courses and are pursuing 4th or 5th year
  • LLM students
  • PG Diploma/MA in Human Rights, MSW, Political Science, Sociology, Social Work, Criminology, Public Administration, Rural Development, History, Economics, Commerce, Anthropology, Mass Communication, International Relations, Social Sciences (final year preference)
  • Must be from regular courses of UGC-recognised universities
  • Minimum 65% marks in Class XII and all subsequent semesters
  • Not more than 28 years old as on 1 October 2025

Documents Required

  • Attested scanned mark-sheets from Class X onward for all courses and semesters
  • Letter of Recommendation from current HOD/Dean/Principal (Annexure format)
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP) – 250 words on ‘Reason for joining as an Intern in NHRC’
  • Self-attested category certificate if applicable

Selection Criteria

  • Merit based on Class XII marks (30 marks), graduation (40 marks), SOP (30 marks)
  • No repeat eligibility for students who have attended prior NHRC one-month internships

Programme Structure

  • Around 65–75 sessions on human rights issues: classroom lectures, expert interactions, research project work, book review, films, and field visits to institutions like police stations, courts, commissions, etc.
  • Cash prizes for top performers:
    • Group Project: ₹15,000 (1st), ₹10,000 (2nd), ₹5,000 (3rd)
    • Book Review/Declamation: Books worth up to ₹1,000 for top interns
