About Consumers India
Consumers India is a distinguished organization comprising senior government officers, academics, doctors, and professionals dedicated to advancing consumer rights. Registered under multiple legal provisions, it conducts impactful campaigns on issues like unethical medical practices, misleading ads, access to affordable medicines, Right to Information, and public health.
About the Programme
Launched in 2012, the Consumers India internship has seen 45 successful batches and is now calling for applications to its Winter 2025 batch (“We for Change”). The programme is held fully offline (physical mode) and familiarizes participants with burning consumer issues, such as misleading advertisements, junk food, unethical medical practices, and consumer justice. Interns will undertake real research and surveys under the guidance of expert mentors.
Eligibility
- Open to students pursuing undergraduate, graduate, PhD, or any higher education programme in any discipline from recognized Indian institutions
- Interest in consumer rights and issues is required
Outcome & Learning
Interns will:
- Become enlightened consumers and learn to make well-informed decisions
- Gain skills to spot and report misleading ads
- Acquire practical experience filing and guiding RTI applications
- Conduct research and surveys, present findings via PPT and infographics, and gain advocacy exposure
- Participate in group and individual assignments, and help amplify consumer awareness campaigns
Internship Details
- Duration: Dec 13, 2025 – Jan 11, 2026 (4 weeks)
- Induction Workshop (mandatory): Dec 13, 2025
- Weekly meetings and active physical participation required
- No stipend and no accommodation/allowance for outstation candidates
- Completion and Evaluation report, debriefing workshop, and presentation mandatory for certificate
