About K. L. Arora Chair in Criminal Law
The K. L. Arora Chair in Criminal Law at National Law University Delhi is a flagship initiative dedicated to advancing criminal law through teaching, research, and advocacy. Established in 2011 by Justice D.P. Wadhwa (Retd.), former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, it honours the legacy of late Shri Kundan Lal Arora, Senior Advocate, and has been led by eminent scholars and practitioners including Prof. B.B. Pande, Prof. K. Chockalingam, Prof. G.S. Bajpai, and Mr. Dayan Krishnan, Senior Advocate; the Chair is currently headed by Dr. Sidharth Luthra, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India.
About the Internship
The Chair invites applications for its full-time, in-person Short-Term Internship Programme for December 2025–January 2026 at the NLU Delhi campus. Short-term interns will spend at least one month (extendable up to two months) assisting ongoing empirical and doctrinal research projects on themes such as probation, plea bargaining, and compounding of offences, while working in a collaborative academic environment.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Contribute to ongoing research projects under the Chair, including data compilation, empirical and doctrinal analysis, and report writing.
- Assist with literature reviews, case law analysis, and preparation of research outputs and policy documents.
- Undertake necessary administrative tasks related to the Chair’s activities and events.
Eligibility
- Students who have completed two years of a five-year integrated LL.B. programme or one year of a three-year LL.B. programme.
- Preference for candidates who have studied and completed criminal law coursework in their LL.B. curriculum.
- Applicants should have a strong academic record, excellent research and writing skills, and a demonstrable interest in criminal law; prior research experience is an added advantage.
- Preference will be given to students residing in Delhi NCR, close to the NLU Delhi campus (Sector 14, Dwarka).
