About West Bengal State Legal Services Authority
West Bengal State Legal Services Authority (WBSLSA) is the state-level body under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, implementing free legal aid for weaker sections and ensuring justice access regardless of economic barriers. WBSLSA organises Lok Adalats and provides legal services through District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) across West Bengal.

About the Internship
WBSLSA conducts internships in two annual cycles: Winter (December–January) and Summer (May–June), with additional interns admitted as needed. Interns gain practical exposure to legal aid delivery, Lok Adalats, awareness activities, and DLSA operations.

Eligibility

  • 2nd/3rd year students of 3-year LL.B. programmes
  • 4th/5th year students of 5-year integrated LL.B. programmes
  • LL.M. students
  • Ph.D. scholars (considered on merit)
    Previous WBSLSA interns are ineligible for repeat participation.

Duration

  • 3 weeks/21 working days (excluding weekends/holidays) at assigned DLSA.

Seats Available

  • Maximum 100 interns per Winter/Summer cycle (subject to applications).

Location & Mode

  • Various District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) across West Bengal
  • In-person only (no virtual option).

Application Procedure

  • Download and complete Annexure-A and Annexure-B forms
  • Obtain Letter of Recommendation (LOR) from Head of Institution
  • Name documents as: “[Candidate Name] – [Document Type]” (e.g., “Priyanka Roy – Marksheet 3rd Year”)
  • Email all documents to wbstatelegal@gmail.com (10 AM–5 PM)
  • Subject: “Application for Summer/Winter Internship – Academic Year [Year]”
  • Submit within one week of notice publication; late applications rejected.
