The Department of Legal Affairs (DOLA), under the Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India, was established in 1961. It serves as the nodal agency for legal affairs, providing legal advice, managing litigation, and handling legislative drafting for the Government of India.
About the Opportunity
DOLA organises a structured internship programme for law students and graduates to provide hands‑on exposure to government legal work. Interns receive training in research, court functioning, legal advice, and specialised areas including constitutional & administrative law, finance law, infrastructure law, economic law, labour law, conveyancing, arbitration, and contract law.
Eligibility
- Indian students who have completed 2nd year of a 3‑year LLB or 3rd year of a 5‑year integrated law course, or law graduates from recognised colleges/universities.
- Advanced computer skills (MS Office, infographics, Adobe) preferred.
Duration
- One month, commencing on the first working day of each month.
Deployment & Locations
- 50 interns selected monthly and deployed across:
- Main Secretariat, New Delhi
- Central Agency Section, Supreme Court
- Litigation HC Section, Delhi
- Branch Secretariats: Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru
Selection & Application
- Shortlisting via online portal; 50 candidates selected each month.
- Apply online with documents and No Objection Certificate (NOC) from college (graduates submit final year certificate instead).
- Honorarium: ₹1,000 upon completion.

Stipend, Benefits & Requirements
- Internship Certificate issued on satisfactory completion (90% attendance + positive remarks required).
- Full‑time, physical attendance mandatory (9:00 AM–5:30 PM).
