About CAT Internship Program

The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) offers internships for law students to gain practical experience in administrative law, judicial processes, and the functioning of a quasi-judicial body. Interns learn the Administrative Tribunals Act, 1985, CAT Procedure & Practice Rules, and observe judicial record management, case studies, and court proceedings.

Eligibility

Law students enrolled in recognized Law Colleges/Universities. Applications require a recommendation letter from the college addressed to the Principal Registrar, CAT Principal Bench, New Delhi, and a valid student ID card.

Duration

  • Minimum: 4 weeks.
  • Maximum: 6 weeks total (initial 4 weeks + up to 2-week extension subject to performance and approval).
    Internship runs from 1st working day to last working day of a calendar month.

Key Guidelines

  • Supervision: Under Deputy Registrar (Judicial); daily attendance with Section Officer (Judicial).
  • Work: Assist staff/PPS/PS attached to Chairman/Members; maintain confidentiality and integrity.
  • Restrictions: No other internships/work; no disclosure without authorization; formal dress code; minimal phone use; unpaid (bear own expenses).
  • Limit: Maximum 5 interns at a time.

Application Procedure

  1. Submit application + College ID + Recommendation Letter (to Principal Registrar, CAT Principal Bench, New Delhi).
  2. On approval, join at start of selected month.
  3. Submit detailed completion report; present learnings on final day for certificate issuance (sent to college via email).

Location

CAT Principal Bench, New Delhi. Laptops permitted for work (subject to confidentiality rules).
