GRANT OPPORTUNITY: Research Endeavour Grant 2025–26 at NLU Delhi [Rs. 5 Lakhs per Annum; Apply by August 25]


About the grant

• National Law University Delhi has launched a research grant programme offering two annual grants of Rs. 5 lakhs each.
• The grant is open to academics and researchers from any Indian institution or organisation.
• Proposals must engage with law, legal institutions, legal cultures, or legal policy through doctrinal, empirical, socio-legal, or social science methods.
• STEM-based proposals are also welcome if they offer legal insights.


Program objective

• To promote high-quality research that enhances understanding of legal systems, institutions, and cultures.
• Encourages both purely legal and interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary approaches.
• Aims to contribute to both legal scholarship and its interaction with other academic fields.


Eligibility

• Must be an Indian citizen working in an academic/research role at an Indian higher educational institution
• Minimum of a Master’s degree
• At least 3 years of relevant academic/research work experience (including experience gained abroad)
• The proposal must be a standalone research project
• Applicant’s institution must have a bank account to receive the grant
• Applicants employed abroad but working temporarily in Indian institutions are not eligible


Application process

• Applications must be submitted through an official online form (link not included)
• The following documents are required:
 • Research proposal (max. 2500 words)
 • Progress milestones document (max. 1500 words)
 • Budget outline (max. 2-level subheads; human resources ≤ 70%; no foreign travel costs)
 • List of publications and research outcomes
 • CV of the applicant
 • Institutional letter confirming approval, fund acceptance, and willingness to submit utilisation certificate or refund unutilised funds
 • Scanned copies of educational qualifications


Selection process

• Applications will be screened for eligibility and completeness
• Shortlisted candidates will interact with a committee constituted by the Vice Chancellor
• Final selection will be based on the proposal and interaction
• NLU Delhi may request additional documents during the selection process


Duration and awards

• Two grants of Rs. 5 lakhs each
• Duration: 1 year
• Work under the grant must be completed within one year
