General Details
• Job Title: Senior Research Fellow
• Reports to: Research Director
• Contract: Permanent (Full-time or Part-time; minimum 4 days / 28 hours per week)
• Salary: £45,669 per annum + eligible cost-of-living uplift
• Pension: 10% p.a. after 1 year (statutory minimum in first year)
• Leave: 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays)
• Location: Central London (EC1V) with flexible working options; 2-3 days in-office for first 3 months
• Probation: 6 months
Key Responsibilities
• Identify and design impactful new research projects.
• Lead and publish research outputs aligned with PLP’s strategic priorities.
• Collaborate on policy work with public affairs colleagues.
• Chair events, deliver training sessions, and represent PLP in the media.
• Manage grants, funding applications, and donor reporting.
• Mentor and manage junior research staff or interns.
• Strengthen partnerships with civil society and strategic allies.
• Contribute actively to PLP’s wider organisational goals and values.
Eligibility Criteria
• Strong understanding of public/administrative law principles and access-to-justice issues.
• Proven experience in empirical research and high-quality publications.
• Ability to develop policy recommendations based on research findings.
• Experience collaborating with external partners, including those with lived experience.
• Skilled in funding applications and grant management.
• Experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) frameworks.
• Public speaking skills (events, workshops, training).
• Commitment to PLP’s values and inclusivity.
• Right to work in the UK.
