About the Trademark Agent Exam

India’s growing focus on intellectual property protection has led to a sharp rise in trademark filings—nearly 4.8 lakh in 2023–24. This has created strong demand for qualified Trademark Agents who assist clients before the Trademark Registry in filing applications, handling oppositions, renewals, and rectifications.

The Trademark Agent Examination, conducted by the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks (CGPDTM), qualifies you to represent clients before the Registry.

Qualified Trademark Agents often work with law firms, IP consultancies, and corporate legal teams, with many professionals earning up to ₹18 LPA.

The Trade Marks Agent Examination 2026 is likely to be held on 10th January 2026 (Saturday).
