About the Chair

Justice Indu Malhotra, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, has established the Chair on Investment Treaty Arbitration at NLU Delhi. The Chair conducts research on complex issues from international investment treaty claims involving substantial damages and costs, while building expertise in this specialized field.

Eligibility

  • LL.M. from recognized Indian/foreign university with minimum 55% marks (or equivalent grade).
  • Proven proficiency in international commercial arbitration and investment treaty arbitration.
  • Prior research experience including fieldwork and data collection desirable.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on international investment treaty claims and related issues.
  • Author papers, books, or reports to spark discussion on investment treaty matters.
  • Partner with universities, academics, researchers, and organizations for empirical/qualitative findings.
  • Manage the Certificate Course in International Commercial & Investment Treaty Arbitration.
  • Organize events, workshops, lectures to promote access to justice discussions.
  • Submit annual report on teaching, research, and advocacy activities.

Salary, Duration & Deadline

  • Salary: ₹50,000 per month (consolidated, subject to 10% TDS).
  • Duration: 1 year initial, extendable based on performance and funds.
  • Deadline: January 20, 2026.
