Delhi Court Orders FoodInfotech to Cease Copying FoodTechBiz Content
Landmark Plagiarism Ruling Protects B2B Platform’s Copyright and Industry Reputation
A Delhi court has issued an ex-parte ad interim injunction against Stand Point Media (OPC) Pvt Ltd, operator of FoodInfotech.com, barring it from publishing articles and photographs alleged to have been plagiarised from rival B2B platform FoodTechBiz.com. The order came in response to a suit filed by FoodTechBiz and its founder-editor Mandeep Kaur, who claimed continuing, deliberate infringement of their copyright and misappropriation of exclusive content since early 2022.
FoodTechBiz highlighted repeated copying of original industry coverage, including interviews and photographs from prominent events like the IFFA Fair 2025 in Frankfurt, Germany, which FoodInfotech published with superficial alteration almost immediately after FoodTechBiz’s coverage. Despite assurances of remedial action and a legal notice in May 2025, the alleged copycat conduct persisted, undermining FoodTechBiz’s brand, misleading clients, and diverting commercial opportunities.
District Judge Hemani Malhotra found FoodTechBiz’s evidence—including comparison charts, original photographs, and records of ignored legal demands—established a prima facie case and a balance of convenience in favour of urgent protection. The court concluded that “irreparable harm would be caused” if relief was not granted, and directed FoodInfotech to take down all plagiarised content, including prominent cases related to event coverage, and prohibited further copying from FoodTechBiz’s platform.
Summons was issued to FoodInfotech to respond in the main copyright infringement suit, with the next hearing scheduled for October 10, 2025. The injunction remains in force, safeguarding FoodTechBiz’s original works until a final decision is reached.
FoodTechBiz was represented by advocate Mudit Sharma in this matter.
