About the Fellowship
The Bihar Samvidhaan Fellowship 2025–26 is a one-year, paid fellowship designed to increase legal awareness at the grassroots level in Bihar. Fellows will work directly with local communities, assisting citizens in understanding their legal rights, strengthening engagement with government institutions, and improving access to the justice system.
This fellowship is ideal for young lawyers and social change professionals who are passionate about creating meaningful impact.
Eligibility
• Law graduates with 2–3 years of litigation experience
• Expertise in gender rights, child rights, or underserved community rights
• Understanding of social security schemes and grievance redressal processes
• Prior participation in legal aid camps/programmes
• Strong skills in problem identification and community skill development
• Must be proficient in spoken and written Hindi
• Must be willing to work and stay in Bihar
Responsibilities of Fellows
• Provide free legal advice and representation in cases referred by partner institutions
• Attend legal aid centres and camps (e.g., Jeevika Didi Adhikar Kendras, CNLU Legal Aid Clinic)
• Conduct legal awareness and capacity-building sessions for women, children, and communities
• Develop legal information material in Hindi for Nyaaya’s online platforms
• Respond to queries on Nyaaya’s WhatsApp helpline about rights, processes, and benefits
• Work to remove barriers to accessing justice and strengthen citizens’ confidence in legal systems
Benefits
• Monthly stipend: ₹35,000
• Expense reimbursement: travel, phone bills, and other fellowship-related costs
• Litigation support: costs reimbursed for pro bono cases handled under the fellowship
