About the Opportunity
The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), established under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, works to provide free legal aid to weaker sections of society and to organise Lok Adalats for amicable dispute resolution. This internship offers law students a chance to gain first-hand exposure to the working of NALSA, engage with various legal services, and promote access to justice. This programme is a great opportunity for law students who want to understand how legal aid systems work in India and actively participate in promoting justice at the grassroots level.
Eligibility
• Students pursuing a 3-Year LL.B. or a 5-Year Integrated Law Course from any recognised university or institution
• Preference for students in 2nd or 3rd year of the 3-Year LL.B., and 4th or 5th year of the 5-Year course
Duration
• One month (four weeks), starting from the 1st day of the month
Internship Guidelines
• No stipend, TA/DA, or accommodation provided
• Full-time physical attendance required (10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday–Saturday, with 2nd & 4th Saturdays off)
• Mandatory 90% attendance for successful completion
• Interns must bring their own laptops
• Local travel to courts and other offices may be required
• Formal black & white dress code (as per Bar Council of Delhi)
• Unsatisfactory performance can lead to discontinuation
Internship Schedule
• Orientation on Day 1 about NALSA’s objectives and functioning
• Access to reading materials, SOPs, schemes, statistical reports, and more
• Field visits to Delhi State Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authority, Legal Aid Defence Counsel Office, and National Lok Adalat (approx. 10 days)
• Visits to Remand Courts, CAW Cells, DM Office, Mediation Centre at Supreme Court, Supreme Court Library, and Supreme Court Legal Services Committee
• Closing interaction and group photograph with NALSA team
Application Procedure
• Fill out the online application form at NALSA’s official website (available two months before the internship month)
• Upload the following documents:
• Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume
• Expression of Interest (max. one page)
• No Objection Certificate from appropriate authority (Dean, HOD, Internship Cell, etc.) mentioning name and semester/year
• Applications in any other mode will not be accepted
• Selection is based on merit and final approval by the competent authority

• Awarded only upon successful completion and meeting attendance criteria
• No recommendation letters will be issued
