• The Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL) was established by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry under the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT)
• CTIL advises the Government of India on international trade and investment matters
• It conducts legal research and supports India’s trade negotiations at bilateral and multilateral forums


About the internship

• CTIL’s internship offers real-world experience in trade and investment law
• Interns contribute to legal research, policy briefs, and analytical papers that assist the Centre’s advisory work
• No clerical work is assigned; interns are actively involved in substantive legal assignments


Eligibility criteria

• Students in advanced stages of legal education are eligible, including:
 • Students enrolled in 5-year integrated law courses (B.A./B.Com/B.B.A/B.Sc LL.B)
 • Students pursuing a 3-year LL.B degree
 • LL.M students
• Preference for those who have completed or are pursuing courses in:
 • WTO Law
 • Public International Law
 • International Investment Law


Responsibilities

• Research on WTO agreements, FTAs, and Bilateral Investment Treaties
• Drafting legal briefs, opinions, and background notes
• Assisting in reviewing trade and investment regulations
• Attending CTIL-organised workshops/webinars
• Contributing to publications and policy documents
