About the Fellowship

The Nyaaya Prayaana Fellowship is a collaborative initiative by OutLawed India Foundation and Karnataka State Legal Services Authority (KSLSA) to train and deploy ASHA workers as paralegals, creating a robust legal aid network across Karnataka. Fellows will work at the grassroots level to strengthen last-mile justice delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead training and deployment of Paralegal Volunteers (PLVs) statewide
  • Conduct baseline assessments, coordinate with DLSA supervisors and mentors
  • Deliver 4-day practical legal-aid training modules in Kannada
  • Engage with police stations, courts, hospitals, NGOs and other stakeholders
  • Set up legal aid desks in government offices and establish village-level legal clinics
  • Manage cases, mentor PLVs, and coordinate with district teams
  • Prepare handover plans and knowledge transfer sessions for DLSAs
  • Submit final reports and recommendations to ensure long-term PLV program sustainability

Eligibility Criteria

  • Law degree (3- or 5-year) from a recognised university
  • 0-5 years of PQE (post qualification experience)
  • Fluency in English and Kannada (speaking, reading, writing)
  • Willingness to travel extensively, with a base in Bangalore

Remuneration & Benefits

  • ₹6 lakhs per annum plus travel and accommodation across districts
