About the Role
DAKSH is hiring a Senior Research Associate to lead research, analysis, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement for its Direct Tax Systems Reform project. The role involves working closely with veterans from the tax administration to diagnose systemic challenges and develop actionable policy recommendations to strengthen the direct tax ecosystem.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead research on tax assessments, dispute resolution mechanisms, and data analytics in direct tax administration.
- Engage with tax officers, practitioners, and industry experts to gather insights and ground realities.
- Draft white papers, policy briefs, research reports, and other knowledge products.
- Co-develop reform recommendations with senior experts from the Income Tax Department.
- Mentor junior researchers and contribute to project planning and execution.
Eligibility
- 3–5 years of experience in tax law, tax litigation, or public policy relating to taxation.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills with demonstrated interest in evidence-based policy and institutional reform.
- Educational qualifications: LL.B./LL.M./CA; Master’s in Public Policy is an added advantage.
