About NITI Aayog Internship Scheme
The NITI Internship Scheme engages undergraduate, postgraduate students, and research scholars from recognized institutions in India and abroad for short-term exposure to government policy-making. Interns work with NITI’s verticals/divisions/cells and contribute to empirical analysis, briefing notes, policy papers, and other inputs for development policy.
Purpose and Objective
- Purpose: To provide selected candidates short-term exposure to different verticals/divisions/units of NITI Aayog as interns.
- Objective: To associate young academic talent with NITI’s work so they learn about Government functioning and developmental policy issues while adding value through research and analysis.
Mode, Location, and Duration
- Mode: On-site only (physical internship).
- Location: NITI Aayog, New Delhi.
- Duration: Minimum 6 weeks and up to 6 months; interns not completing the minimum 6 weeks will not receive a certificate.
Eligibility Criteria
Bonafide students of recognized universities/institutions in India or abroad who meet the following:
- Undergraduate students: Completed/appeared in 2nd year/4th semester exams and secured at least 85% marks in Class 12.
- Postgraduate students / research scholars: Completed/appeared in first-year/second-semester exams of PG or pursuing PhD with at least 70% marks in graduation.
- Students who have just completed graduation/post-graduation and await higher studies may apply if they have 70%+ cumulative marks and the gap between result declaration and desired internship month does not exceed six months.
