About the Department of Legal Affairs
The Department of Legal Affairs (DOLA), under the Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India, was established in 1961. It handles legal matters for the Government of India across constitutional, administrative, finance, infrastructure, economic, labour, arbitration, and contract law.

About the Opportunity
DOLA’s Internship Programme acquaints young law students and graduates with government legal operations through research, referencing, court functioning, and specialized legal advisory work. Selected interns are deployed across various sections and locations.

Eligibility

  • Indian students who have completed 2nd year of 3-year LLB or 3rd year of 5-year LLB.
  • Law graduates from recognized colleges/universities.
  • Advanced computer knowledge (MS Office, infographics, Adobe) preferred.

Duration, Deployment & Seats

  • Duration: 1 month (starts 1st working day of each month).
  • Seats: 50 interns per month.
  • Locations: Main Secretariat (New Delhi), Supreme Court (Central Agency Section), Delhi HC (Litigation Section), Branch Secretariats (Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru).

Honorarium & Benefits

  • Honorarium: ₹1,000 upon completion.
  • Internship certificate issued after satisfactory performance (90% attendance mandatory).
  • Library reference access (no borrowing); formal dress code (black trousers, white shirt).

Key Terms

  • Full-time, physical attendance (9:00 AM–5:30 PM); no other courses/work allowed.
  • Interns arrange own accommodation; sign NDA for confidentiality.
  • Submit monthly report with assigned research; unsatisfactory performance may lead to termination.

  • 50 candidates selected monthly via portal/email notification.
