About the National Human Rights Commission

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India is a statutory body established under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 (PHRA). Constituted on 12 October 1993, NHRC is responsible for protecting and promoting human rights relating to life, liberty, equality, and dignity, as guaranteed by the Constitution and enforceable international covenants.

About the Internship – Online February 2026

NHRC invites applications for its “Online Short Term Internship Programme – February 2026.” This is a structured, full-time 2‑week academic internship focused on human rights research, training, and institutional exposure.

Eligibility

  • 3rd year and onwards of integrated 5-year PG course.
  • 3rd/final year of graduation course.
  • Any semester/year of post-graduate degree or post-graduate diploma course.
  • Research scholars in any stream.
    Note: Minimum 60% marks in Class XII and all subsequent courses (CGPA/SGPA conversion formula required); age not exceeding 28 years as of 1 January 2026. Full-time availability mandatory.

Duration, Mode & Timings

  • Duration: 2 weeks (2nd to 13th February 2026).
  • Mode: Fully online.
  • Timings: 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM (Monday to Friday).

Stipend & Certificate

  • Stipend: ₹2000 for all completing interns.
  • Certificate awarded based on attendance, punctuality, discipline, participation, project presentation/report, and book review submission.

Application Deadline

  • Last Date: 11 January 2026 (18:00 hours).

Documents Required

  • 250-word Statement of Purpose (SoP) on “Purpose for joining NHRC Online Short Term Internship” (basis for selection).
  • Self-attested scanned mark sheets from Class XII onwards (including current course).
  • Scanned recommendation letter/email from HOD/Dean/Principal in prescribed proforma.
