Gitanjali J Angmo, wife of Ladakh-based climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, has alleged in an affidavit filed before the Supreme Court that Rajasthan Police and the Intelligence Bureau kept her under strict surveillance spanning from Delhi to Jodhpur during her visits to meet her husband in jail. She states that since September 30, the day she held a press conference in Delhi, she has been trailed continuously across the national capital by a car and a motorcyclist.

According to her affidavit, on her visits to Jodhpur Jail on October 7 and 11, she was escorted by police from the airport, required to share travel details beforehand, and not allowed to move freely within the city. During her meetings with Wangchuk, a Deputy Commissioner of Police and a female constable sat nearby, taking notes on their private conversations. Angmo also recounts being compelled to leave early for the railway station and accompanied by police on part of her train journey.

She submits that these acts are violative of her constitutional rights under Articles 19 and 21 relating to freedom of movement, privacy, and liberty. Angmo challenges her husband’s preventive detention under the National Security Act as politically motivated repression of peaceful protest and demands his release.
