
About the Opportunity
National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) offers structured internship programmes since 1998 to promote human rights literacy and awareness among university students per Section 12(h) of Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. Interns gain practical exposure to human rights work at NHRC Delhi.
Eligibility
Students pursuing 2nd/3rd year LLB (3-year after 1st year), 4th/5th year integrated 5-year law (after 3 years/Semester VI), LLM, PG Diploma/MA Human Rights, final year PG in Political Science, Sociology, Social Work (MSW), Criminology, Public Administration, Rural Development, History, Economics, Commerce, Anthropology, Mass Communication, International Relations, Social Sciences. UGC-recognized regular courses only; minimum 65% marks in Class XII and subsequent semesters; age ≤28 years.
Duration
4-week offline programme; Summer: June–July; Winter: December–January.
Mode and Location
On-site at NHRC, Delhi.
Selection Criteria
300–500 word SOP on “Reason for Joining as Intern in NHRC”; merit: Class XII (30 marks), Graduation (40 marks), SOP (30 marks). Preference for human rights research potential. Previous NHRC interns ineligible.
Stipend
₹12,000 upon successful completion + 3rd AC train TA to/from educational institute to Delhi.
