
About the Opportunity
National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) conducts Summer Internship Programme (SIP) 2026 from June 1 to June 25 to generate awareness for human rights protection and promotion. Applications invited from eligible students across India for this four-week offline programme in New Delhi.
Eligibility
Students pursuing 2nd/3rd year LLB (3-year course), 4th/5th year of 5-year BA LLB/BBA LLB after completing 3 years/Semester VI, LLM students, PG Diploma/MA Human Rights, final year PG students in Political Science, Sociology, Social Work, Criminology, Public Administration, Rural Development, History, Economics, Commerce, Anthropology, Mass Communication, International Relations, Social Sciences. Minimum 60% in Class XII and first 6 semesters; age not exceeding 28 years as on 01.04.2026; regular students of UGC recognized universities only.
Internship Period
June 1 (Monday) to June 25 (Thursday), 2026 – four weeks full-time offline at NHRC, New Delhi.
Number of Interns
Maximum 100 students + 20 waitlisted (Delhi/NCR preference).
Selection Criteria
Merit based on Class XII (30 marks), Graduation first 6 semesters (40 marks), 300-500 word write-up/Statement of Purpose on “Reason for joining as Intern in NHRC” (30 marks). Research potential in human rights preferred.
Stipend
Rs. 12,000 upon successful completion + 3rd AC TA to/from educational institution to Delhi.
Application Requirements
Attested photocopies of Class X, XII, first 6 semesters marksheets; Letter of Recommendation from Principal/HOD/Dean with name, signature, date, stamp/seal as per Annex-I.
Awards
Certificates based on attendance, discipline, submissions. Cash prizes: ₹15,000 (1st), ₹10,000 (2nd), ₹5,000 (3rd) for group research projects. Book prizes for book reviews and declamation contests.
Key Rules
Prior NHRC internship disqualifies applicants.
